Ellie Carrier
Dr. Ellie Carrier grew up in Northern Virginia, receiving her BA in English
Literature at Virginia Tech prior to attending veterinary school at the Royal Veterinary College London. With a strong initial inclination toward equine surgery and emergency medicine, she completed an equine internship at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala in Florida following graduation and subsequently worked as a large animal veterinarian for Loomis Basin Equine in California for a few years. She decided to make the switch into small animal emergency after becoming interested in the broad scope of practice and the close human-animal bond that small animal practice offers, completing a rotating internship at the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon to learn quickly through the transition. Since finishing her internship, she has worked exclusively in emergency medicine and has strong interests in critical care and soft tissue emergency surgery. Outside of work, she can be found rock climbing, in the backcountry, running, fly fishing (without much luck), or spending time with her friends and two cats, Gearbox and Ron.
