Dr. Sarah Townsend was born in Dorset, England and received her veterinary degree from the University of Bristol in 2014. Following graduation, she completed a one year small animal rotating internship at the University of Guelph in Canada. She then moved to Florida to complete an orthopedic research fellowship at the University of Florida, before staying for a three year small animal surgery residency, which she completed in 2019. Dr. Townsend then spent two years as faculty at North Carolina State University, becoming board certified in 2020.

Dr. Townsend has developed a particular interest in minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery. Her clinical interests also include complex wound management and cruciate disease. Outside of work, Dr. Townsend enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, traveling, and spending time outdoors with their dog, Chester.
